About Us

Who We Are

Established in 1988, Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of South Florida is a not-for profit organization dedicated to helping local children live happier, healthier and more productive lives by supporting healthcare and medical research programs, education and the arts, and civic and social programs.

Our Houses

The Ronald McDonald House® (RMH) is a temporary "home-away from home®" for families to find rest, support and time away from realities of the hospital procedures and routines in any Miami-Dade and Broward County pediatric medical facility.

In South Florida, there are
two Ronald McDonald Houses®.

The Story of the Ronald McDonald House

The first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia in 1974 as a response to one's family struggle to cope with their daughter's leukemia treatment. There are now more than 254 Houses throughout the world which provide a comfortable and supportive living environment for over 6,000 families each night. Each House is independently operated by a local board of trustees and is responsible for their own fundraising.
